Welcome to Home Care Matchmakers
Homecare Matchmakers is an alliance between family caregivers and self -employed Home Health Aides. We created this alliance in response to the breakdown of true service values now evident in the existing home health
industry across the country. We identified the problem and we created our own solution. We have formed our own placement service for home health aides, specially trained in dementia care and home hospice care, who can work for any home care agency or individual, on a contract for services basis.
The problem
Home Care agencies hire home health aides and assign them to elder consumers based on agency staffing availabilty rather than consumer preference. They require the home health aide to own a vehicle and maintain auto insurance as a condition of employment. They pay their home health aides on a per-hour basis. They are reluctant to promote the Medicare Home Health Services benefit because Medicare often denies payment of services AFTER the service is provided, thus the Home Health Agency loses money.
The solution
Our non-profit Directory/placement agency is consumer-owned and directed. We are Medicare advocates. We get Medicare pre-approval for our clients BEFORE our home health aides contract with a Medicare-certified home health agency. Our HHA's receive special training in the Team Approach to Homecare, which puts the client at the center and includes the doctor, family and all professional and para-professional cargivers. All our aides are paid on a per-visit basis at $60 per 4-hour visit, or $15 per hour. They will provide overnight staffing from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. for $72 per night if they can sleep and be on-call. If they are awakened and needed on duty they receive $ 15 per service episode.
